Arreis FR is a sustainable Class 1 flame retardant medium density fiberboard (MDF) panel manufactured from 100% recycled wood waste, meeting the most stringent formaldehyde emission standards in the world. SierraPine’s patented manufacturing process utilizes a formaldehyde-free adhesive system to produce Arries FR. During processing an additive is blended with the fibers to provide flame-retardant properties throughout the board. Unlike surface flame retardant coatings, the flame retardant properties of Arreis FR aren’t compromised when the panel is machined or sanded. Arreis FR is the ideal product for interior applications that require a certified Class 1 product and where certain indoor air quality requirements are specified.

Features & Benefits

Awarded CARB NAF Exemption due to formaldehyde-free adhesive system. Class 1 certified MDF with performance characteristics comparable to standard MDF. Meets CARB ATCM 93120 Phase 2 emission limits core is dyed red for easy identification of fire retardant panel. FSC certified panels available.

Handling & Installation

Store indoors on a flat, level surface with adequate support to prevent sagging. For best results, Medite® FR should be conditioned to the final environment 48-72 hours prior to installation. Readily accepts and holds hardware including staples, screws and other fasteners. It is recommended to pre-drill pilot holes not less than 1” from the edge on the face of the panel, or 2+1/2” from the corners when used in the edge of the panel before fastening with hardware. Additionally, hardware should be spaced at least 6” apart to reduce the risk of splitting.

Limitations

Arreis FR is not suitable for external or structural applications.

How to Specify

Industrial Grade Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF),manufactured with a formaldehyde-free adhesive system and certified as a Class 1 Flame Retardant panel in accordance with ASTM E84-07 and CAN/ULC-S102 to a Flame Spread of 20 and Smoke Developed of 100. New York City approved MEA 357-98-M.

Painting/Laminating

When choosing a coating or laminate system, confirm compatibility of the paint, laminate or adhesive with the respective manufacturer and ensure the Class 1 flame spread classification of the Arreis FR panel will not be adversely affected. NOTE: Retardant additive may cause adhesion problems when using adhesives containing poly vinyl alcohol. Contact Sierra Pine for adhesive recommendations.

FSC Certified Formwork Plywood

FORMrite (FSC Formply) is a high quality overlaid panel produced predominantly from graded Pinus radiata veneers. These are glued with phenol formaldehyde resin and overlaid with a hard durable resin impregnated paper to give concrete a smooth finish. With a durable A-Type Marine bond, FORMrite can withstand the rigours of construction moisture. Its hard phenolic surface and high quality outer veneers make it durable and reusable.

FORMrite gives builders a better surface for pouring concrete and offers a class 2 finish on the first pour (when used in accordance with the recommended Carter Holt Harvey fixing details). FORMrite is a cost effective solution;

  • Significant number of re-uses.
  • Can be used in modern optimised form systems such as table forms.
  • Suits a range of frame spacings, concrete pressures and surface tolerances.
  • Can be used on steel or timber form frame systems.
  • Lighter in weight than imported or rain forest hardwoods.

FORMrite has a cross-laminated construction. So the panel is less likely to expand or contract when exposed to rain and temperature changes, making it easier to lay forms for large decks. It's worth remembering that excessive moisture can cause panels to swell, move and stiffen.

FSC Certified Trueform

Carter Holt Harvey claddings are full exterior structural plywood sheets, which can be used for both decorative and bracing purposes. Produced from Pinus radiata veneers and bonded with phenol formaldehyde resin adhesive (WBP marine bond, type A exterior), the finished sheets are H3 LOSP preservative treated to provide long-term protection from decay.

SHADOWclad groove, SHADOWclad texture are decorative sheets with a band-sawn surface (with a groove profile option) for use on residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

SHADOWclad Groove and SHADOWclad Texture are also available already primed with a special powder coating. This is an advanced powder coating process that's been specially developed for substrates prior to top coating. With a noticeably smoother surface, Primed claddings allow for easier top coat application and give you more square-metre coverage per litre of paint. And because the powder priming process significantly reduces the amount of water absorption, you get a drier surface for top coating.

SHADOWclad applications include

  • Decorative exterior cladding.
  • Residential and commercial buildings.
  • Resorts, hotels & townhouses.
  • Stables and agricultural buildings.
  • Premium industrial structures.
  • Light weight prefrabricated homes & work site offices.
  • High impact cladding/lining for public areas.
  • Excellent for soffits and rustic interiors.
  • Meets BCA 2007 standards.
